October 3, 1932
Time featured Louisiana Senator and political kingpin Huey Long on its cover on October 3, 1932. Long, who is quoted as saying "I can sell anybody anything," was campaigning tirelessly for the Democratic candidate Franklin Roosevelt, who was the clear favorite going into the election. The "Kingfish" was a huge force in Louisiana politics, serving at different times as Governor and Senator. By his own admission, Long wanted to leave state politics and make a future run for President.
