Louis Prima Orchestra

12:00-12:30 AM

"Louis Prima, his orchestra, and his magic trumpet" broadcast the "real New Orleans brand of swing" from New York.

Prima was involved in music from childhood, and even lead a New Orleans band at age 11. In 1934 he began recording as a bandleader, but he didn't achieve his highest popularity until the 1950s, when he had a Las Vegas act with his wife Keely Smith. He maintained popularity until the 1970s.
