Released on 13 November 1940, Walt Disney's full-length musical cartoon, Fantasia, was met with scorn from critics and was hugely unpopular with movie patrons at the time. Intended as merely a comeback for Mickey Mouse, Fantasia pioneered new levels of animation despite its cool reception in 1940.
