Sarah Pierpont Edwards recorded her conversion narrative at the request of her husband, who rewrote it for "Thoughts on the Revival of Religion in New England," eliminating all references to her sex and translating the narrative into the third person. Although Jonathan Edwards' version of Sarah Pierpont Edwards' text was the one published during the the period we are discussing here, I have included both versions to illustrate the editor's impact upon the text.
