Allison Pinnell Howard

Allison Pinnell Howard

A three-year old enrolled in Arlington, Virginia's special education program, Allison is the daughter of Beth and Kevin Howard. She has an older brother, Adam, who likes to make her laugh and is very protective, and a new baby sister Elizabeth. Allison is happiest in the pool, being tickled, watching Little Bear movies, going to school and music class, and eating just about anything. She has never walked or talked and has lost the use of her hands, a source of great frustration to her. She bonds with people around her through her infectious smile and sparkly blue eyes.

Alyssa Lily Thomas

Alyssa Lily, 6, is the older daughter of Bruce & Daphne Thomas and sister to her best friend and role-model, Olivia, who is 4. Alyssa's brilliant smile, captivating eyes and calm demeanor are her hallmarks. She walks independently, is potty trained and can feed herself finger foods but she is unable to talk, dress herself or use her hands to draw or hold a spoon. Her favorite pastimes include watching Barney, Mary Poppins, listening to her music and attempting play with others, especially boys! Alyssa attends a multiple disability classroom in Loudoun County, Virginia and has her own one-on-one classroom aide. In addition to an excellent individualized curriculum, she receives Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Services, Music Therapy, Hydrotherapy and Hippotherapy (horseback riding) both in school and privately. She is a constant source of joy and encouragement to those around her.

She loves to dance (with help), to cuddle, and to go to school to see all her friends. Emma has very limited use of her hands, and communicates primarily through her eyes. She can hold her weight on her legs, and can be coaxed into taking a few steps, again with help. Thanks to her tireless mom and dedicated teachers, Emma can communicate her ability to recognize her name in writing, colors, animals, foods, and songs.

Jenna is a very lovable little girl, who, with the help of everyone that knows her is making great progress and learning so much.
