The 11th Annual Writer's Eye Competition

Judges


    All Writer's Eye entries will first go to a panel of readers who will select a group of entries for the final round of judging. At all stages the judging is 'blind', the name of the author is not on the work being read.

    John Grisham will judge the finalists in the prose category and will name a first, second, and third place winner in the high school and adult categories. Grisham is author of NY Times Bestseller List of Books of mystery/crime/suspense novels . He is a former lawyer and politican and author of The Chamber, The Client, The Pelican Brief . His most recent book is The Runaway Jury. Many of Grisham's books have been made into successful films. Grisham is originally from Mississippi and is now residing in Charlottesville where his passion is baseball.

    Greg Orr will judge the finalists in the high school and adult division poetry category. Orr is a poet and an author of literary critisim and history. He is a professor of English and theDirector of the Graduate Program in Writing. He is author of The Red House, New and Selected Poems, and City of Salt, among others.
