Shakespeare's The Globe Theatre

As part of their cultural study of London, students must experience Great Britian's highly acclaimed theatre. The program includes a group viewing of one play per week. The first viewing usually occurs at the recently reconstructed Elizabethan playhouse, The Globe. Located on the south bank of the River Thames, the Globe is a near perfect replica of Shakespeare acting company's theatre, with its O-shaped frame, open-aired covering, and in-the-round style seating. The props are still minimal, the actors mostly men, and the costumes still elaborate as was the case in Shakespeare's own time.
