Ads in the late sixties picked up on the young, hip style by pulling from the flowery counterculture style of visual art. This style was flowery, brightly colored, wavy and mystical, seen earlier on hippies' painted Volkswagens, the storefronts of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district and acid-rock concert posters.
