ABOUT THE AUTHOR

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Erin Barnes is an American Studies student at the University of Virginia. She recently became obsessed with the rise of the automobile, the highway, the vacation, and the suburb. Frederick Law Olmsted is a huge influence on her life, as is Kierkegaard. Moreover, she exemplifies the American who buys into these paradigms of freedom and individualism on the road. She also likes to till the soil. Here's a picture of Erin (center) and two of her roommates.

And this is where they live.

This is a picture of her friend, Dave, as a young man, wearing the pelt of the coon he recently skinned.

Thus the yeomanry lives on.
