The show consists of four main female characters and each character has her own distinct personality and purpose to fulfill on the show. By exploring each individual character in conjuction with the other 3 characters in the same situation, one will realize the main purpose of this show is not as it appears, which would appear to be a model of how women in their thirties should live. In actuality, the main purpose is to show that women do not need to fit one mold nor can they be defined simply by that mold, because to do so is unrealistic. The irony in this is that show proves this point by doing that exact thing with its characters personalities, their relationships, and fashion sense. The show challenges women to figure out their own idea of a universal character, and even comes close to achieving a model of one, but in the end it purposefully falls short of this goal.
