General Social Survey

Has the almost annual "omnibus," personal interview survey of U.S. households conducted by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) and others; the first survey took place in 1972 and since then more than 38,000 respondents have answered over 3,260 different questions. Part of the University of Michigan's site on the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research.

Social Science Research Network (SSRN)

SSRN contains several research networks, including Accounting, Economics, Financial Economics, Legal Scholarship, Management, Information Systems, Marketing, and Negotiations. SSRN's Abstract Database contains abstracts on over 63,500 scholarly working papers and forthcoming papers. Their Electronic Paper Collection has over 40,900 downloadable full text documents in Adobe Acrobat pdf format. The eLibrary also includes the research papers of a number of Fee-Based Partner Publications.

The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research and iPoll

U-Conn-based site with searchable datasets. Main attraction is iPOLL, a comprehensive, up-to-date source for present-day U.S. nationwide public opinion. A full-text retrieval system, iPOLL is organized at the question-level and provides tools to sift through nearly a half million questions asked on national public opinion surveys since 1935.

A guide to sociological resources on the web, SocioWeb links to sites under such titles as "Sociology in Action," "Surveys and Statistics," and "Sociological Theory."
