Superman saves a professor and his son from a runaway trolley. He asks them where he should go to observe humanity, and they advise him to move to Metropolis, go by the alias of Clark Kent, and work at the Daily Planet. They promise not to reveal his identity as Superman flies to the city.

Once in Metropolis, Clark Kent is hired by Perry White to be a cub reporter, and he learns of The Wolf's plot to destroy a western railroad train.
