1959 Stone Mountain Master Plan
The 1959 Stone Mountain Master Plan contains a comprehensive description of the plans for the
modern park. Many of the proposed venues, for the first time, bear no relation to the carving or
to the Confederate theme. Influenced by the need for financial solvency, the Park plans golf
courses, hotels, nature trails, and other resort-type facilities. A massive document, the master
plan has been divided into six sections to facilitate navigation.
